Sunny beach sunset

Sunny Beach

Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach is officially the cheapest sunshine holiday destination in Europe and that’s why can offer fantastic holidays here from £200. Here’s why Sunny Beach is so cheap and should be your next holiday choice.

Over the last few years Brexit has pushed up the price of European holidays, with many of us feeling that a cheap sunshine break no longer exists.

However, a Post Office study in 2016 found that Sunny Beach, Bulgaria ranked the number one cheapest destination out of the 19 they researched. The study looked at the cost of a basket of tourist staples i.e. sun cream, lunch, drinks etc in each place and found that Sunny Beach was by far the lowest priced. The basket cost just £37! Where as the same items in Ibiza cost a whopping £137, £119 in Sorrento and £117 in Nice.

The reason for this difference is that many resorts have put prices up owing to the weak pound, resulting in a 17% average price rise. However, places like Sunny Beach have recognised this as an opportunity to attract more tourists and have actually DROPPED prices by 10% over the last few years.

Lots of us get sucked in with a cheap deal, right? But, there’s nothing worse than being on a ‘cheap’ holiday and everything you want to buy being way to expensive, which is why you should always look at cost of living when booking.

So, what’s the catch with Sunny Beach? Well there is none that I can see. So, here’s a quick fact file on the resort:

Where is it and how do I get there?

It’s a modern and lively beach resort on the black sea coast of Bulgaria. From the UK you’re looking at a 3.5 hour flight to one of the two airports there. All the main UK based budget airlines fly there.

Who would like it:

It’s a lively resort so best for young couples, young families and groups of friends that want more than just a beautiful beach such as great nightlife, day trips and activities nearby.

What is there to do there?

Apart from the beautiful beach, hundreds of restaurants and bars, there are lots of fun activities in and around Sunny Beach.

You can race around the go karting track in the sunshine

Spend a day at the Aquapark where there are over 60 thrilling rides – a great way to cool down in the heat. Chill on the lazy river or shoot down a white-knuckle ride.

If you want to culture Nessbar (UNESCO world heritage site) is only a 15 minute bus ride away. Here you can marvel at the beautiful facades built by the Romans and Greeks for Apollo. Take a walking tour along the cobbled streets to learn the history of this magical place.

For a more laid-back day, visit one of the many spas and Hammans for a few hours. Chill with a traditional massage or scrub.

There are lots of other activities from catamaran rides to pub crawls to tours that we can hook you up with – just let us know what you fancy.
