Festa Winter Palace, Borovets *****

The Festa Winter Palace is one of the few 5 star hotels in Borovets so is consequently very popular with holiday-makers due to it’s striking appearance and great location nestled in the woods ( though only 2 minutes walk from the resort centre).

The food is pretty good though it is probably what lets this hotel down if anything, though they do cater well for vegetarians and vegans. Breakfast is either a full-English or American, and fresh orange juice is also available. There is also 24 hour room service which is quite rare in Bulgaria.

It has many facilities including an excellent swimming pool, a good quality spa, steam room and sauna, a number of bars, and free daycare should you need it. As with many hotels in the resort there is free wi-fi throughout however some guests do state that their connection did drop out a number of times.

The rooms have their own TV (though most channels are Bulgarian or American, not many are English) but they don’t have a kettle or hair drier, although these can be requested from reception.
